In an effort to encourage (read: bribe) you to help us get out the vote now through election night, we’ve teamed up with a bunch of local Brooklyn bars to spread the wealth with discount booze. We’re pleased to report that each of the bars listed below will be hosting watch parties on election night and have agreed to offer drink specials to volunteers (2-for-1 drinks at the very least, but some places are being even more generous, so ask the bartender what’s on tap for Obama).

Just print out your volunteer card and bring it to any of the following great Brooklyn bars:

We are now in the final hours before the election. Whether you’ve volunteered hundreds of times for the campaign or you just joined our email list, we need your help now.

The Obama campaign is trying something that has never been done before. The campaign will have all of its volunteers in battleground states going door-to-door to talk to voters in person. They will not make any reminder phone calls. Instead, the campaign has outsourced the calling program to blue states like New York. Every single reminder phone call to an Obama supporter in a battleground state like Pennsylvania or Ohio will come from a blue state like New York.

Repeat: Every single reminder phone call to an Obama supporter in a battleground state will come from a state like New York.

That means that we’re counting on you, Brooklyn, in a way that no Presidential campaign up to this point has. Those reminder phone calls are an essential part of the get out the vote operation in battleground states. We MUST make these phone calls, and every phone call that goes unmade hurts our chance to win this election. In these last days, we need to make literally millions of phone calls from New York.

Brooklyn alone is responsible for making close to a million calls.

We need 10,000 volunteers from Brooklyn to meet our call goal. So, we’ll need every single person on this email list to make a couple of hours sometime between now and 8 PM on Tuesday evening, get three or four friends together and come down to one of the following locations with your cell phones and chargers to make some reminder calls. The calls are very simple. You won’t be calling any undecided voters. You’ll just be calling supporters and reminding them to vote in the election on Tuesday.

And don’t forget: all phone bank volunteers get 2-for-1 drinks on election night!!!

(We also need people who can help flyer. So, if you can’t make calls but you still want to help, please email amandat [at] brooklynforbarack.org and we’ll put you on a street team.)

(Note: This is an overnight trip, Oct 25-26.) Help Barack win the critical state of Pennsylvania. We will be leaving from Brooklyn to canvass Philly voters from Saturday to Sunday (leaving Brooklyn at 8 a.m. Saturday, returning by 9 p.m. on Sunday). We will walk neighborhoods to remind Obama supporters to vote on election day, and to listen and speak to undecided voters about their concerns. No previous experience canvassing is needed, just your good spirit in supporting Obama. You will have a short training session in Philly when we arrive on Saturday. We will either share the cost of hotel rooms, or get supporter-provided housing. Attendees will also split the cost of gas and car rental. TO SIGN UP FOR THIS TRIP you must email Christina Newhard (guerrilla.zen@gmail.com) with 1) your name 2) cell phone number 3) what neighborhood you live in 4) if you have a car 5) if you are willing to drive a car or van. There are some Obama supporters there, and many of the residents do not like McCain….they just don’t know enough about Barack. The progressive movement in town is undermined by the local paper and conservative university. I am looking for people who are interested in driving out (8 hours) or meeting there (it’s an hour from Columbus or Cleveland airports) and lending a hand to the Ohio campaign the weekend of the Columbus Day holiday. I’m encouraged that the town has had a larger Democratic response than they have ever had, but they need our help. We have a place to stay and we will be well fed. We can rent cars or a van, depending on how many people can go. We can drive out/back on different days to accommodate peoples’ work schedules.

Now is the time to reach out to women voters and talk with them about Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s plans to make American families stronger, public education better and economic equality a reality for women in this country.

This weekend in cities and towns across the nation, female Obama/Biden supporters are mobilizing to reach out to women voters in battleground states in the Womens Weekend of Action.

We have a number of events taking place across Brooklyn to mark this occasion. I hope you’ll be able to join us at one or more of the following:

Friday:

Come join us in Park Slope between 7 and 9pm making signs to send off our volunteers and rally on Sunday at City Hall Park:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gs5k23

Saturday:

We’ll be calling women in battleground states to tell them why we support Barack Obama and encourage them to do the same. Join us at Vanguard Independent Democrat Association in Bed-Stuy for phone banking from 10-2. Bring your cell phones!:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gs5k2z

Or, join the New York Campaign Team at the Teamsters Union on 14th St. in Manhattan for phone banking from 12 to 3:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gs5kfd

Sunday:

We’ll again be calling women in battleground states to them why we support Barack Obama. This time we’ll be making calls from 12 to 2:30. Bring your cell phones and laptops!:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gsxldy

Or, join the New York Campaign Team at the Teamsters Union on 14th St in Manhattan from 12 to 3:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gs5kkh

After making some calls, we’ll go over to City Hall Park for the “Stand up for Change Press Rally at 3 PM! This rally will showcase the board base of support of women for Senator Obama. Help us show a strong Brooklyn presence and hear from prominent women who support Barack Obama. We’ll bring signs from the sign making party on Friday:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gs5kk4.

If those events don’t work for you, it’s always easy to plan a grassroots phonebank in your community: gather a group of women in a quiet location, take out your cell phones and put those free weekend mins to use! Call PA and OH using the Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) function at http://my.barackobama.com/n2n. And here’s an instructional video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt9JKIIs9Sw.

We’re looking forward to seeing you!
