Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Host: Matthew Haines
Location: Fulton Street Mall (at corner of Jay Street and Fulton Street, outside the subway station), Brooklyn, NY 11201

Let’s keep the momentum in Brooklyn going! Last Friday nearly 20 volunteers registered nearly 600 voters and I write this on the eve of a second event where 21 volunteers are ready to rally more support for Barack in Brooklyn.

OUR THIRD EVENT will take place at the Fulton Street Mall on Thursday, January 17th where we will

1.) Ask people to declare their support for Barack Obama by signing our sheet and possibly even offering to volunteer.
2.) Show voters what a presence and great, energetic vibe Barack Obama supporters have and generate!
3.) Sell Obama gear (buttons, shirts, posters, bracelets, etc) for donations.

In the last week and a half I have taken part in a bunch of Obama campaign events and every single time it has been a GREAT time. Lots of people have come out and volunteered for the campaign for their very first time, and they too have really enjoyed themselves. I hope you can join us too!

We are going to begin at 5PM (an hour earlier than normal) because there are a bunch of people who can arrive that early. However, if you can’t get there until later, don’t worry! Any amount of time is better than no time at all. We’ll finish up at 8PM and then promptly find a local bar to celebrate our good work at. :) If you have ANY questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 631-513-3929. Bring friends and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Come canvass for Barack in New Hampshire over Veterans Day weekend, November 10–11! Spread Barack’s message of hope and reform while enjoying late fall foliage and camaraderie with other cool New York Obamaniacs. Click here for trip details: http://www.ny-nh.com/.

As we head into the home stretch, the race to the nomination will be determined by our commitment to promoting Barack’s sound policies door by door, voter by voter. Thanks to the great work of Mario Bonifacio and his intrepid cadre of canvassers from New York, the NY-NH Exchange has already knocked on over 1500 doors and talked with over 500 New Hampshire voters. (Click on the “Past Trips” page of ny-nh.com for video of NY-NH canvassers in action.) Our goal is to double those numbers over November 10-11, and we need your help to do it!

Forum on Faith & Politics – Fort Greene/Clinton Hill, October 17, 2007

Time: 6:30–7:30 PM
Host: Carlos Odio
Location: Ft. Greene Senior Citizens Council, 966 Fulton Street,
Brooklyn, NY 11238

In the first in a series of neighborhood forums, we will tackle head-on the issues of religion and politics. We’ll talk about how we translate values rooted in our faith into universal principles, and what Barack Obama has added to this critical conversation.

These forums are a chance for people of any faith (or non-faith) to come together and discuss the role of religious values in public life. Barack often talks openly about both his own personal journey to his Christian faith and the uncertainties involved in religious belief.

Come and join in the discussion, or just listen and contemplate your own feelings on these issues. Whether you can make it or not, you can learn more about Barack—and how he translates his values into public discourse—by visiting faith.barackobama.com or by emailing us at faith@nyc4obama.com.

(we would have to purchase these bumper stickers but the return on the investment out weights the amount for the bumper stickers).

June 9th the day of the Walk for Change event is also my son Jah’s fifth birthday party. My love of country and family has presented me with a great opportunity to not only do something great for the cause and community on a whole but also teach my son a great and valuable lesson. So my plan is to set up a table where people can stop by pick up literature sign up to volunteer and just meet and exchange thoughts and ideas. Since I cant get out to the people and walk I’ll do my part by catching the high volume of people who’ll pass by our party on the corner of President St. and Franklin Ave. Franklin Ave. is a major artery in Crown Heights. If you live in the ‘hood stop by and say hi.
